[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Poseidon
Age: Immortal (as old as time)
Gender: Male
Canon: Olimpos
Timeline: post- series
Character History:
In the canon mythology, Poseidon’s background story is part of their creation myth. Namely:
“Three brother gods divided the world by drawing lots. The eldest, Hades, drew the depths of the earth… and so he was driven into the underworld.
The middle brother, Poseidon, drew the oceans… and so he was driven into the sea.
The youngest brother, Zeus, drew the last lot remaining, the sky… and so he became the king of gods, looking down on the entire world from above.
Some say that Zeus rigged the lottery to trap his brothers. However, no one knows the truth.”
Poseidon is the symbolic personification of the ocean and everything it embodies. Being that the ocean is set between the domains of the earth and the sky he is the one which has the most contact with humans. However, he seems to have moments throughout canon regarding the danger of interacting too much with humans (in an individual way), having some cryptic dialog with Apollo (the son of Zeus, the sun) along the lines of “humans are all fools, don’t associate with them” which seems to come from personal experience.
And like all the other gods, he cannot lie.
Character Personality:
As mentioned in the History section, Poseidon is the middle brother of the 3 main gods, Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. He represents the ocean and so he lives with a greater amount of contact with humans than any other god.
Although the major God characteristics remain in him (e.g. he doesn’t feel any value in human life and has a very condescending attitude towards humans) he differs greatly from the other gods in canon, mainly because his emotions seem the most human, as portrayed in his many appearances and interactions throughout the series. Unlike the other gods, Poseidon expresses likes and dislikes, such as his resentment towards his subordinate position to his younger brother Zeus (even though Zeus has yet to order him to do anything; Poseidon simply hates the idea that if the possibility came up he would be compelled to obey). In other words, Poseidon feels that seniority is important, and that it is unfair and undignified to be under his little brother’s ruling.
In contrast, his resentment would decrease if Hades were to take Zeus’ place due to being the older sibling. He respects his older brother, often looking for him to speak to and complain about their situation (this relationship is rather one-sided, as Hades finds Poseidon’s speeches extremely annoying, and often brushes him off when his brother visits).
Besides the desire for authority over Zeus, Poseidon also seems to have a desire to be liked and enjoys attention from others. In fact, he appears in front of humans often; his apparitions make up the majority of most of mythology as perceived by humans. This is the reason why most statues of gods are in his shape (tall bulky male statues). He also has a core notion of humans’ standards, for example, knowing that they held Apollo in high standards because the temple for Apollo was bigger than his, and “bigger is better” for humans, which means that unlike the other gods which have a big separation between themselves and the humans, Poseidon actually observes them enough to know about them.
However, he knows better than to mix himself with the humans completely, as he has the notion that if a God begins to think like a human, that can lead to a lot of problems.
He also has the habit of demanding things from humans when he is bored, like asking for temples or sacrifices, treating humans like ants (like the other gods) but in a way, he also uses them as his personal entertainment, which sometimes helps him pass the time. He doesn´t see humans as individuals, nor sees their lives as something precious, but the fact that he knows that associating with humans can cause troubles also means that in a way, unlike the other gods which have a complete disregard for humanity in general, he sort of acknowledges that they are there (not that he gives them importance, as their only value to him is as entertainment). But he does interact with them in a more personal way, unlike other gods. He is also exposed to the influence of humanity, making him more emotional than the other gods.
Poseidon is used to (and even demands) adoration and respect from humans, which interestingly makes him somewhat annoying to the other gods. He makes terrible jokes when Apollo is around, for example, hoping to be found interesting, or even impressive; he even tries to show off for the other gods as he would for humans. Unfortunately, the gods are a great deal more difficult to impress.
He also is simple minded, which keeps him from being as philosophical as the other gods. It is not that he is completely dumb (even though he is often called that by the other gods) but he is the kind of person who sets his own pace. When he is bored, he voices out that he is bored, accepts that he is bored and does something to ease his boredom (going to visit another god or asking for a human sacrifice). In a way, he is pro-active about what he feels and he doesn’t think too much over it, unlike the other gods who seem to make highly elaborate, complicated plans in order to escape boredom.
Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:
The abilities actually shown in canon involve the ability to move the seas, teleportation to the different domains and the ability to speak the truth and nothing but the truth (this being the way they perceive the world). He is capable of being visible or invisible to humans at his will and he doesn’t age or and will never die. It is implied that, as a god, he has a lot more powers than that.
Character Weaknesses you would like to expand on further:
His irritation and complex about Zeus being his superior (basically he greatly values hierarchy and precedence).
His very simpleminded way of thinking.
[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]
What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign?
In terms of physical characteristics, Poseidon is the literal basis on which the many (naked) muscular Greek statues are created. He’ll still have that, but all his other godlike attributes will be missing.
What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign? Bullet-form is fine.
Since his abilities are removed, he will gain all the weakness (to him) of being a human being, which will throw him off guard. Without his godly abilities, he will not be able to get the attention and worship he is so used to. In addition, he will have to deal with the reality of feeling pain and being vulnerable – again, completely new to him.
The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to “rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world.” By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?
Well, perhaps BREW thought that if Death City had more aesthetically pleasing temples, the witches would think twice about destroying it? (Just kidding.)
Well, in a more thoughtful answer, BREW could pick him due to the fact that he is a God and he has no major pains or traumas. The madness which is threatening Death City will not have that much impact on him (in a psychological way at least, since he is vulnerable now he can pretty much be knocked out in the confusion of the madness). So, he can be of good strategic value for the war.
[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]
Why is your character a Weapon and not a Meister?
OOC I think it would be better for Poseidon to be a weapon due to the fact that it will be easier to tone down his godlike attitude by placing him in a position where he must be held by someone else.
What is your character’s Weapon Form? Why?
Demon Trident, which is a silver trident 3 sharp prongs. The reason for this choice is drawn from the mythology, since it is the weapon which is most commonly associated with Poseidon.
What is your character’s Weapon Ability?
The trident will give the meister to control the water which is within his/her reach (any water within a five meter area). Minimum resonance has the ability to move the water against the opponent, but no more than 5 liters in each attack and the more water is being moved, the harder it will be to control. With medium resonance the meister will have greater control over water attacks and produce mist or fog. At maximum resonance the meister will be able to throw a tsunami against the opponents; however, it can only be used once a week.
The limitation of this weapon is that it is completely dependent on the amount of water available, and as such, without water he can only be used as a normal trident.

[You can see Poseidon staring blankly at the sky; in a way, he seems somewhat surprised. The strange thing is that he isn’t surprised at the change of realm.
No, he is staring at the Sun, which keeps grinning at him.]
Apollo… what happened to the sun? How did it become like that? [He asks, his face towards the sun, which simply maintains that creepy expression.
And then, he looks around, maybe if…] Humans! Listen up! This is your god, Apollo! Your God is extremely irritated and demands a sacrifice! Bring me an offering as great as the mighty Poseidon! [Yes, this would do it. If the humans somewhat entertained Apollo, maybe the younger God would make the sun go back to normal again]
[However, in the street, people, inhabitants of the city stare at him blankly. One can hear a couple whispering at each other “What a weirdo”, pointing at Poseidon.]
This shocks Poseidon even more.] … They can see me. [And with that shocked expression, the video ends.]
Provide a Third Person sample set during the last minutes on their world and/or their first few moments in the Kishin Chamber (http://soul-mods.dreamwidth.org/3401.html).
Poseidon was observing the human realm. Since it was him, he actually counted the days since he had last seen Apollo, and with it he knew how long he had been staring at these humans.
“I’m bored!” he shouts, the waves of his voice propagating in the shape of waves, causing a storm at the shore which he was observing. The humans ran in panic, trying to rescue themselves from what they thought was the anger of the god of the sea.
Poseidon turned, not really bothering to see more of the destruction. It wasn’t entertaining to observe his own work. Instead, he looked up, thinking that maybe he could go finally see what was all the fuss about the garden…
It is in that moment when suddenly everything changed. All the reality and truths, the ones he had always existed with, had shifted. His world suddenly turned black without a warning.
He blinks.
“Hades?” he calls, not really sure how to react to this… Where was the sky? The sun?
… Could it be that that foolish plan actually worked?!
This thought gave way to another series of incoherent questions which his simple mind had never faced before… He was an old god, it had been so long since the phase of asking questions about the world.
“This is Hades’ doing.”
He could say it, so that meant it was true.
“This is Apollo’s doing.”
… But that didn’t made sense.
“This is my doing.”
…
He was… saying something which… wasn’t true.
Just… what had happened to him?
And then, the light begins to shine again, a strange moon, very much different than what he was used to see, allowed him to observe the new realm.
The realm where his words were no longer the “truth”.
